The Carla G. Howell Endowed Scholarship

The Carla G. Howell Endowed Scholarship

In 2015, Mrs. Howell’s family established The Carla G. Howell Endowed Scholarship in honor of her commitment and dedication to higher education. The endowment is reflective of Mrs. Howell’s passion to fulfill Rowan-Cabarrus Community College’s mission to improve lives and build community through public higher education and workforce development. Throughout the duration of her career, Mrs. Howell has been distinguished as a mentor, colleague, and community advocate.

As the Chief Officer of Governance, Foundation and Public Relations, Carla has been a long-term advocate of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College and has seen many key visions become realities. Her consistent vision of excellence has facilitated the RCCC Foundation’s first-ever ambitious Major Gifts Campaign, which has strengthened relationships and enhanced opportunities for the College and Foundation to change lives in Rowan and Cabarrus counties.

Carla has proudly served the College as an alumna and professional by consistently building a legacy of generosity, optimism, diligence and integrity. As wife, mother, and grandmother, Carla is loved and appreciated by her longtime husband, Dwight, their two children, Ashlinn and Brett, and multiple grandchildren, Jaxon, Anaston, Dylan, Katelyn and Morgan.

The scholarship will support Rowan-Cabarrus students who are enrolled in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts or Mathematics (STEAM) programs and will continue to exemplify Mrs. Howell’s legacy and contributions to education.
