Mike Chreitzberg Endowed Scholarship
Mike Chreitzberg developed a passion for architecture at an early age, graduating at the top of his class from the School of Design at N.C. State University in 1975. He received a Master’s of Architecture from the University of Colorado in Denver in 1980.
Mike launched his career with Skidmore, Owings, & Merrill, prolific and successful designers of high-rise towers in the world, where he worked as a Design Architect for numerous high-profile projects throughout the U.S.
In 1988, Mike became a founding partner of Yates-Chreitzberg Architects. His extraordinary talent as a natural designer is demonstrated in his work as the Primary Design Architect for many diverse and complex projects, ranging from the internationally acclaimed Texas Motor Speedway to the Police Headquarters facility for the City of Concord.
Mike has served his home community through his professional work as Design Architect for the Cabarrus County Boys and Girls Club, the Stanly County YMCA, and numerous Cabarrus County School projects, and his work is an integral part of the growth of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College in the region. He served as the Primary Designer for all three South Campus buildings. Yates-Chreitzberg-Hughes (YCH) Architects also designed Building 400 on the College’s North Campus, providing a modern and flexible learning environment that represents the first Gold LEED-Accredited public building in Rowan and Cabarrus counties.
Mike’s work has elevated the image of our local communities and educational institutions. His contributions to design and practice are long-lasting and will influence future generations of practitioners. Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics are fundamental to this legacy – his life’s work will be an inspiration and symbol to future scholarship recipients.
